Parents Of Elementary Kids

Parents of Elementary Children

this week has gone by quite fast. To back track - father's night was great. Nina had a blast showing off to her dad and her dad got to meet other kids she talks about and their dads, which was great (father bonding..)

We were fighting the flu the last few weeks so a little drain of energy. Nina is now into ballet and would like to start ballet (which will most probably happen starting April due to some timing conflicts.) She has started her swimming classes, which she likes and ofcourse looks forward to Wednesdays when she has art. I was asking her to take spanish classes but she's not sure - I usually let her pick the activities she wants to do as I've noticed that if I force her into something, she will not want to do it in a few weeks. She had started yoga classes but it was too much of a drive for me so I have stopped that for right now.

Spring break is coming up and she's very excited to be at home for those days so I am glad that she can be at home and not have to go to day-care those days. I still have to figure out some different fun things we can do over spring break - any ideas?

She's learning about amphibians and reptiles - what is the difference between each? It's a fun age because she's curious and knows more than I had ever known at this age.

She loves taking care of Alex, the little boy at school but this week it's not just taking care of the little boy but actually him learning from her - she's doing difficult work like the various triangles and he is sitting there observing her. This is what I like about Montessori - the younger kids are learning/observing a ton from the older kids without the teacher ever having to push them. And Nina is explaining to Alex the various triangles... Very nice! Those reading this blog, I am hoping you are finding this site informational. I am also hoping you can post some topics that you would like to discuss, some of your own blogs, forums etc. If you need help, just send me an email.

Till later!
